Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNO): The residents of Sanatnagar area here have raised concerns over the increasing number of roadside vendors occupying footpaths during evening and night hours, leading to frequent traffic jams and inconvenience to the commuters. Locals alleged that the vendors install their carts and stalls on the roadside, especially during peak evening hours, causing massive traffic congestion on the already narrow stretch. “The entire road gets choked after sunset. It becomes difficult for even pedestrians to walk, let alone vehicles to move smoothly,” said a local resident, while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Another resident said the problem is getting worse each passing day. “Our children return home late from tuition and elders find it difficult to step out in the evening due to this chaos,” she said. The residents have also appealed to the concerned authorities to take immediate action and remove the vendors from the footpaths to restore smooth movement and public convenience in the area. “We are not against anyone earning their livelihood, but it should not be at the cost of public safety and comfort,” said another local—(KNO)
